Albert Park / Radisson Heights Neighbourhood Information
The community was first established as a part of Calgary back in 1910, making this neighbourhood one of the few to celebrate a centennial of being part of Calgary. Homes here have a mixture of the older style popular a few decades ago to renovated and renewed masterpieces of modern design. The community’s borders are defined by Memorial Dr, Deerfoot Trail, International Ave, and 36th St SE.

The community of Albert Park / Radisson Heights has around 6,500 residents from year to year. It’s a pretty consistent population that hasn’t varied in size over many years. The community primarily lives in single-family homes, but it by no means the majority of the options. It’s a pretty even split between townhomes, duplexes, converted suites, and several apartment buildings as well. The people here have a high diversity proportion. The community is over 35% immigrant population, a very high percentage when compared to alternative communities in Calgary. This diversity also plays into the statistic of a slightly lower income and education level of the citizen living here. People in Albert Park / Radisson Heights have been keeping a fairly consistent moving schedule, with around 50% of the demographics living here for over 5 years. A good proportion of the residents have steady jobs and careers in the downtown, which is why they choose to live in this neighbourhood. But when the jobs move on, that opens up an opportunity for the next homebuyer to find a place here.

The Albert Park - Radisson Heights Community Association works in conjunction with the city of Calgary to offer a new avenue to build community pride. They work to create events and programs, often in partnership with the city, to use city facilities to hold barbecues, art showings, dance classes, family fun days, and several other initiatives. They also move to build community bonds between the people here, maintaining a strong and healthy neighbourhood through the partnership of the residents.

Condos and apartment dwellings account for almost 40 percent of the Albert Park/Radisson Heights housing market. The rest are townhomes, detached, and semi-detached homes.

 

Albert Park / Radisson Heights Amenities

Of course, the community has great access to the downtown. This is the primary reason why people choose to live in Albert Park / Radisson Heights. They have incredible access, sometimes in under 10 minutes to the downtown core, so for those who commute to work, it’s much more convenient to skip the traffic and delays of living in suburban neighbourhoods on the outskirts of the city. The commute is easy, and even simple when walking to work or using the public transit bus system that caters to this neighbourhood.

The people also enjoy close proximity to many other venues and amenities. Among them include the Calgary Zoo, the Telus Spark science centre, and the Max Bell Arena, located within the boundaries of the community. For those who want a rotating choice of activities each and every day, living in a home here offers you the chance to try it all.

Several parks are located around the downtown core, providing endless opportunities to bike, walk, or jog year round. With spots like Pearce Estate Park or along the Bow River, there are a number of places to choose to spend your time outdoors. Shopping is incredibly easy as well with Marlborough Mall just right beside the neighbourhood.

Albert Park / Radisson Heights Schools

For the parents and students, we have Bishop Kidd School, Holy Family School, Radisson Park School, Sir Wilfrid Laurier School, and Father Lacombe High School. These schools represent the entire spectrum of public and Catholic schools. Close by, we also have the Calgary Islamic School and the Forest Lawn High School. Father Lacombe High School is ranked by the Fraser Institute as 161st in the province while Forest Lawn is measured to be 244th in the province.
