Condominiums in Calgary
Condominiums in the city of Calgary and surrounding areas (which are often referred to in short form as "condos") are a form of home ownership rather than a particular style of home / properties. Typically you'll find condominiums in multi-unit buildings, which can be as little as just a couple of units or high rise towers in the downtown of Calgary with hundreds of units within the building. The premise behind a condo unit is that you own the particular unit within the building, but you do not individually own the rest of the land or building, you contribute a monthly fee or condo fee to the condominium corporation which as an owner, you're a part of, and you have shared ownership and use in the common areas, along with shared ownership of the costs for maintenance in these areas. Typically condominium buyers are young professionals, first time buyers, seniors downsizing, that are looking for a more inclusive all in living lifestyle, some condominiums offer incredible access and amenities including gyms, party rooms, and swimming pools.
Townhouses in Calgary
A townhouse or townhome is a property that is attached to another property in a side by side styles or series of other properties, every unit will have their own entrances, they can have garages detached, or attached, typically have their own backyards and green spaces, and will share a common wall with their neighbors, units in the middle will have two shared walls on both sides.
Semi-detached homes in Calgary
Semi-detached houses will have their own separate entrances as well as separate land, but will typically share a common parking place, owners are in charge and responsible for their portions of their properties.
Single/Detached properties in Calgary
A detached single family home is essentially as it sounds, a home that is not attached to anyone else's property and is a free standing property where you own both the home and all the land. This is typically the most expensive form of ownership as you're responsible for all the maintenance, including major repairs from roof to replacing windows, lawn care, etc.
Duplex/Triplex properties in Calgary
A duplex or triplex property is very similar and looks like a single property, but is configured as a multiple unit building. For example you can even have fourplex's, etc. These are typically seen as investment properties, perfect for capturing a monthly income.
