Mountain and ravine views. It is known for its luxury developments with opulent homes. Homes in Aspen Woods typically have acrylic stucco exteriors with natural stone and/or brick accents and triple attached garages are not unusual. Most of the homes in Aspen were built after 2001, and while not a master-planned community, it has evolved to be one of Calgary's most desirable neighbourhoods.
There are also a number of luxury Aspen Woods condos, townhomes and brownstones available throughout the community. Prices range all the way from over a $1 million for "New York" style brownstones down to more moderately priced townhomes and condos in the low $300,000's.
There are a number of shopping plazas offering a wide variety of restaurants, shops & grocery stores in Aspen Woods. The Aspen Landing Shopping Centre overlooks a water feature & boasts banking, Safeway, restaurants & Shoppers Drug Mart. Just a short drive away is the massive Westhills shopping area - where you'll find theatres, restaurants, outlet stores, Staples, the Real Canadian Superstore & Indigo Books among others. The Westside Recreation Centre is a popular destination for all ages, & contains sports arenas, pools, fitness facilities & more. The highly anticipated West leg of the LRT is also under construction, & the terminal will be located just North of the Centre.

Aspen Woods is an affluent neighbourhood in Calgary’s north-western district. The neighbourhood sits in one of the premium locations in Calgary with incredible views of the mountains to the west and the city skyline to the east. The borders of this community are formed by 17th Ave SW, 69th St SW, and the West Springs Community. It’s position on the edge of Calgary keeps it secluded from other neighbourhoods.
The Aspen Woods community is very different from a normal community. Now there are 7500 residents living in this far west neighbourhood. The largest percentage of housing option is the single-family home, most of them large and stately in size. There are a few townhomes as well throughout the neighbourhood. The average wage of the community os almost double that of Calgary’s normal earner, proof that this community is much more well-off than many other neighbourhoods. 30% of the population here are immigrants from backgrounds like China, Russia, and parts of Europe. One significant factor of this community is that 80% of the neighbourhood has a college or university degree, one of the higher proportions in the city. Aspen Woods has seen rapid growth in the past 5 years with over 75% of the community moving her in that time period. It’s a great place to raise a family with many households with children at home to take advantage of the parks and open spaces throughout the community.
The SCA Community Association covers over Strathcona, Aspen Woods, and Christie, a large percentage of this area. In spite of their size, the community association does offer plenty of opportunities for people to connect with each through games, events, and sporting tournaments. Families are always the centre of any activity they offer.
The community of Aspen Woods may be quite far off the centre of Calgary, but that does not restrict them from having great amenity access. The community is situated along 17th Ave and has great access to Bow Trail. This makes traveling to the downtown core very easy and convenient. They can also access Sarcee Trail as well as quickly exit Calgary on Highway 8.
Much of the shopping can be done in the community at the Aspen Landing Shopping Centre. They have several basic necessity shopping options. Larger shopping opportunities exist at Westhills Shopping Centre just a few minutes’ drive down Sarcee Trail. This much larger complex is loaded with exceptional shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and plenty of professional services like pharmacies and clinics. West Market Shopping at 17th and Sarcee also offer options. There is no shortage of choices.
Throughout the community, there are several parks with trails and paths to enjoy. These can used year-round for biking, walking, and cross country skiing. Beyond the borders of the neighbourhood are several more parks in Christie Park and Strathcona Park. Just outside of Calgary lie two spectacular golf courses, Pinebrook Golf and Country Club as well as The Glencoe Golf and Country Club. Both of these exclusive courses have many members in the residents of Aspen Woods. These are immaculate courses that are premium locations for any golfer.
