Due to the limited number of homes available in Bel-Aire, there were only 7 Single Family Residential Homes sold in Bel-Aire in 2018 for an average price of $2,318,929. Average Days on Market (DOM) for homes in Bel-Aire was 92 days.   The highest sale in Bel-Aire in 2018 was a contemporary home on Bel-Aire Place which sold for $5.0 million.

Bel-Aire is one of Calgary's most prestigious and wealthy communities, with many homes featuring spectacular City Views and sweeping Valley and Rocky Mountain views. It is ideally located a short 15 minute drive from the Downtown core and it's known for its opulent homes.  Bel-Aire is perched on the ridge above the exclusive Calgary Golf and Country Club and is located just to the North of Mayfair and to the West of Meadowlark Park.  Due to the communities limited number of homes and luxury price point, there is often a lack of homes for sale in this distinguished neighborhood.  Prices of homes in Bel-Aire (on average) range from $1 Million to $5 Million and the highest sale in Bel-Aire on the MLS was back in 2010 for $5.3 Million.

Bel-Aire Neighbourhood Information

Nestled in beside the Glenmore Reservoir and the overflow of the elbow river, Bel-Aire is a quiet, remote neighbourhood, set away from the hustle of the city that surrounds it. The small community sits off of Elbow Drive, between the Calgary Golf and Country Club, the reservoir, and the community of Mayfair. The lifestyle in Bel-Aire is relaxed, comfortable, and very convenient for any resident.

What the statistics say about this small community is typical of what’s expected in an affluent neighbourhood like this. Only a few hundred residents can call Bel-Aire their home, making this truly one of the most prestigious areas in all of Calgary. 100% of the homes in this community are single-family homes, many of which have been renovated and redesigned in the past few years. This is an established community, the average age of resident being 51 years old, compared to the Calgary median of 36.  These are mainly working professionals, the majority of whom hold a post-secondary degree and are active in the workforce. The median income of the community is over 5 times the average of a normal Calgarian. Everything about this community is established, mature, and luxurious.

Bel-Aire is served by the Mayfair Bel-Aire Community Association which is run by the residents of both Mayfair and Bel-Aire. This association uses the membership fees to provide informal evening gatherings, community clean-up events, and several other private gathering through the year.

Bel-Aire Amenities

Bel-Aire, while being private and set apart, is close to the best amenities of Calgary. This is where residents choose to go when they want to experience what Bel-Aire has to offer. Just to the East is Chinook Centre, Calgary’s largest mall with dozens of stores with high-end labels like Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom’s. This mall includes a movie theatre, several eating options, and many unique stores not found anywhere else in Calgary.

Next to the community is the Calgary Golf and Country Club. This private club is extremely exclusive with members-only playing times and severe restrictions on guests. The club is reserved to those who have undergone the membership waiting time of several years before being accepted into the club. This is just one of the several golf courses that line this area, including the Lakeview Golf Course and the Earl Grey Golf Club. Beside the golf course is the Sandy Beach Park, a public park that allows Bel-Aire residents to walk along the river’s edge and enjoy the many pathways through the reserve. First Assembly Church is a popular place of worship for many Calgarians and is one of the few churches in Calgary with a thriving youth population.

The affluence of the neighbourhood has many residents driving personal vehicles, which makes it convenient to live here in Bel-Aire. The access to Glenmore Trail, MacLeod Trail, and Elbow Drive allows residents to quickly go anywhere in Calgary with ease. It’s a pleasant and scenic drive along Elbow Drive to get to the downtown core in 15 minutes.
