The community of Acadia was first annexed by the city of Calgary in 1956 and officially became established in 1960. During this period the city was going through an urbanization program and was therefore very quick to begin development. 

Acadia is bordered by major roadways from every angle making it one of the more ideally located communities in Calgary for home owners looking for easy accessibility throughout the city, this includes heritage drive to the north, Southland drive to the south, Deerfoot to the east and to the west Macleod Trail. 

One of the biggest perks in the Acadia real estate market is affordability - this area offers great value and a lot of homes that hit the market are seen as very affordable, which in turn makes the neighborhood very attractive to a variety of buyers including first time home buyers and younger families.
