Testimonial from a Bowness home buyer who has now lived in the community for over 6 months

"We had heard many good things about this community, a great friend of ours knows someone at the planning department in the city of Calgary and they mentioned that this area was ear marked to become one of the premiere communities in Calgary again and that there were major efforts to see this community become revitalized, just driving through the area you can see that this is accurate, tons of great new homes being built, with plenty of older homes, giving the community a vibrant and eclectic mix throughout. We really just love the location most of all, it's so easy to get out of the city into the mountains, the Bow river being right beside us is exactly what we want, my husband is an avid fisher and he could not be happier about our decision. The team recommended us a great home builder who has built many projects in the area, they're reputable and trustworthy, do great work, and all in all we're just over joyed with our entire experience, our new home to grow and raise our young family, and the community we've chosen. Oh and also we really love the new commercial projects that seem to be popping up, it's really adding to the community and definitely has an Inglewood vibe"

A former town in West Calgary and merged with it in 1964. It can be found on the border of Bow River in the north and east, in the south is 16 Avenue, West is Stoney Trail, and Montgomery to the east On community’s northwest sits one of Calgary’s famous park, the Bowness Park as it offers a lot of year-round outdoor activities like picnic, boating, and ice skating. During 1890s Thomas Stone and Jasper Richardson purchased Bowness which was occupied by native people over 10,000 years ago until it was developed and leased by Cochrane Ranch Company. The two started Bowness Ranche and built home ranches. The subsequent sale happened In 1908 by an English solicitor, John Hextall. He envisioned the area to be an exclusive residential suburb. He subdivided the land in 1911 and built a bridge so Calgary will have access to his development which he called Bowness Estate. He also donated two islands to be used as a park now known as the Bowness Park. As a diversified community, Bowness now offers a lot of amenities for it residents. Schools are also present even before the amalgamation like the Bowness High School.
