Our purpose is to ensure individual student development through effective education. The development of individual students requires interaction between students, teachers, and parents. These relationships enable students to grow socially, physically, intellectually, culturally and emotionally. The staff works together with students to help them reach their potential. It is expected that each student will be willing to work with teachers to achieve this goal.

It is our desire that each student will find life at Clarence Sansom enjoyable and the Programs of Study educationally beneficial. To encourage opportunities for this to happen, the following goals have been established:
Besides acting as a location for morning, afternoon and after school check-in, our homeroom classes provide an important opportunity for staff and students to interact with each other about important school topics. It also provides an opportunity for student leadership groups to promote and develop student activities and responsibilities.
Students also participate in silent reading in HR during our daily POWER period (Providing opportunities with everyday reading). Teachers also provide direct instruction of reading strategies during POWER, reinforcing our beliefs that not only is reading an important lifelong skill, but it can also be improved with practice and instruction.
Agenda books are distributed to each student. These serve as an organizational tool for students in which they can record daily assignments and keep track of their progress at school. It is also a communication system between home and school. It contains the student’s library bar code and Internet authorization. Parents are encouraged to check these books frequently. As well, these books serve as hall passes. No student should be in the halls during class time without the agenda signed by a teacher. The replacement cost for a lost or stolen agenda is $9.
