We offer a well-rounded, faith-based education in a caring, inclusive and nurturing community to meet each student’s unique needs. In addition to core curriculum programming mandated by Alberta Education, we are pleased to offer our students a variety of supplementary courses, options, and services in collaboration with our many community partners. The values of the Catholic faith permeate all programming options within Calgary Catholic schools.
The Calgary Catholic School District offers kindergarten programming within a faith-based learning environment.
Parents and children will experience a Catholic educational setting which focuses on:
Registration is ongoing throughout the school year. A child who turns four years old on or before March 1 is eligible to attend kindergarten in the fall of that same calendar year. The child’s birth certificate should be presented at the time of registration. Contact your local elementary school for more information.
Select CCSD elementary schools now offer full-day kindergarten. To register, your child must live within the school’s boundary area, and you must provide a birth certificate. For more information please contact the following selected schools:
Young children benefit from programs that provide opportunities for organized activities and purposeful play through which children explore the world around them. Alberta Education defines the instructional time for kindergarten as the “time where direct child-teacher interaction and supervision are maintained.”
Kindergarten students are provided with a minimum of 475 instructional hours each school year. The following 10 guiding principles provide a framework for kindergarten programming:
Year-round education (YRE) is a school year calendar formatted to more closely match the continuous learning patterns of children. The school year is balanced into four equal terms with students getting a shortened summer vacation and going back to school in August, a two week holiday in October and an extra week of holidays at both Christmas and Easter.
Most schools offering the year-round education option are dual-track schools. Dual track means that the school offers a year-round calendar as well as a traditional calendar. Students who live inside the school’s boundary may choose between year-round or traditional education. Out of boundary students may be admitted if there is space in the school.
With the year-round education track, children receive the same education as those on the traditional track. Alberta Education mandates that all students must receive the same curriculum and equal instructional time. In fact, for the majority of the school year, YRE track students and traditional track students study together in the same classes. A multidisciplinary approach to the core subjects, a variety of engaging programs and a special timetable allows for both tracks of students to learn, achieve and grow together.
Welcome to Monsignor Neville Anderson! We are pleased to provide both a before and after school program at this location, as well as a kindergarten enhancement program. We offer an inclusive environment where children have the opportunity to pursue their passions, to make new friends, and to learn through play.
As a licensed and soon-to-be accredited program, we pride ourselves on providing a safe and engaging space for students in kindergarten through grade six to relax and enjoy one another’s company. Our before and after school program operates out of the school’s gymnasium between 7:00 am and 8:05 am, and from 2:50 pm until 6:00 pm. Our fully qualified staff enjoy providing arts and crafts activities, science projects, daily indoor and outdoor games, as well as facilitating a number of student-led clubs.
Our kindergarten enhancement program currently services those children who are in the school’s morning kindergarten class; we, therefore, provide care from 11:00 am until 2:50 pm. Like our before and after school care, our enhancement program gives students the opportunity to explore through daily arts and crafts, science activities and outdoor play – but with a more academic focus. We believe that children learn best through play, however, our planned activities are also designed to complement the curriculum our students will be learning throughout the school year. To that end, our days also incorporate sensory play, circle times, show-and-share, calendar, weather and more.
One of the most unique aspects of Adventurers MNA is that we are able to provide care for the school’s year-round students, right here at the school. For our year-round students, we provide care beginning in August and offer care during their extended breaks at Christmas and Spring Break, as well. For our traditional-track students, we are happy to also provide care during breaks and during summer at our Triwood location.
If you have any questions or would just like to stop by and see our program in action please feel free to come to see us during our operating hours, phone us at (403)966-3049, or email us anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to welcoming you to Adventurers School Age Care, “where being a kid is a once in a lifetime adventure!”
