We offer a well-rounded, faith-based education in a caring, inclusive and nurturing community to meet each student’s unique needs. In addition to core curriculum programming mandated by Alberta Education, we are pleased to offer our students a variety of supplementary courses, options, and services in collaboration with our many community partners. The values of the Catholic faith permeate all programming options within Calgary Catholic schools.
The Calgary Catholic School District offers kindergarten programming within a faith-based learning environment.
Young children are proven to benefit from programs that provide opportunities for organized activities and purposeful play through which they can explore the world around them. The kindergarten program focuses on seven areas of learning, including early literacy; early numeracy; citizenship and identity; environment and community awareness; personal and social responsibility; physical skills and well-being; and creative expression.
All Calgary Catholic elementary schools offer half-day kindergarten programs and depending on total kindergarten enrolment, we may offer a choice of morning or afternoon classes on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Fine Arts program provides another learning pathway for students in Calgary Catholic. The Fine Arts are comprised of art, drama, and music. Students are involved as creators, performers, historians, critics, and consumers.
The program enables students in elementary and junior high to enhance the depth and breadth of their expression and intuitive response to the fine arts while exploring the links between the arts and other core subjects. The Fine Arts program encourages and challenges individuals to discover and develop their potential through exploration, collaboration, and sharing.
Students follow the Alberta Programs of Study in traditional and non-traditional ways. The benefits for students in a Fine Art program are:
The Italian Language and Culture program offers elementary and junior high students enrolled in the program the opportunity to study Italian in addition to their regular program of study.
Students will develop Italian language and communication skills and participate in various cultural activities.
Students in kindergarten will study Italian for approximately 45 minutes per week while students in Grade 1 to 6 will have approximately 150 minutes per week.
