We offer a well-rounded, faith-based education in a caring, inclusive and nurturing community to meet each student’s unique needs. In addition to core curriculum programming mandated by Alberta Education, we are pleased to offer our students a variety of supplementary courses, options, and services in collaboration with our many community partners. The values of the Catholic faith permeate all programming options within Calgary Catholic schools.
St. Elizabeth Seton offers Drama, Art, and Band as options to all our Junior High Students. There are opportunities for students to be involved in extra-curricular fine arts activities.
This year's band performance will be held on February 20th, 2020, at 6:00 pm.
The drama production, Willy Wonka Jr.!, is on April 29th and April 30, 2020.
The Calgary Catholic School District offers kindergarten programming within a faith-based learning environment.
Young children are proven to benefit from programs that provide opportunities for organized activities and purposeful play through which they can explore the world around them. The kindergarten program focuses on seven areas of learning, including early literacy; early numeracy; citizenship and identity; environment and community awareness; personal and social responsibility; physical skills and well-being; and creative expression.
All Calgary Catholic elementary schools offer half-day kindergarten programs and depending on total kindergarten enrolment, we may offer a choice of morning or afternoon classes on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kindergarten Registration: Registration is ongoing throughout the school year. A child who turns four years old on or before March 1 is eligible to attend kindergarten in the fall of that same calendar year. The child’s birth certificate should be presented at the time of registration.
Full-day Kindergarten: Select CCSD elementary schools now offer full-day kindergarten. To register, your child must live within the school’s boundary area, turn four years old by March 1, 2018, and you must provide a birth certificate.
Kindergarten programming: Young children benefit from programs that provide opportunities for organized activities and purposeful play through which children explore the world around them. Alberta Education defines the instructional time for kindergarten as the “time where direct child-teacher interaction and supervision are maintained.”
Kindergarten students are provided with a minimum of 475 instructional hours each school year. The following 10 guiding principles provide a framework for kindergarten programming:
High School Information
High school registration is an exciting time for Grade 9 students. The Calgary Catholic School District issues each grade 9 student a copy of Footprints to Your Future – which is a guide to high school. The guide provides information about high school in general and the programs offered by the Calgary Catholic School District. This resource is expected to be delivered to students in January or sooner. It is important that you and your son/daughter read this resource carefully.
Most students attending St. Elizabeth Seton School fall within the boundary area for Notre Dame High School. Therefore, it is unlikely that your child will be able to attend a different Catholic high school without special permission. Exceptions to this rule are for those students interested in attending Bishop Carroll High School (self-directed learning program) or St. Mary’s High School (International Baccalaureate-IB students only).
Mrs. Manchester will be speaking with Grade 9 students to stress the importance of putting forth their best effort, keeping up with assignments, and striving for good marks this year. Students' marks at the time of registration will affect the level of classes they should register in for Grade 10. She will be meeting with your son/daughter in January and February to begin the registration process. High Schools will be hosting Open Houses/Information Nights to answer questions and facilitate the registration process.
